Our Story

Over the last 2 years Amanda Esquivel, True Colors Executive Director, and Tony Vezina, 4D Recovery Executive Director, have worked towards creating safe places for the LGBTQIA2s+ community. With the support of CareOregon, Amanda and Tony were able to launch a program dedicated to providing affirming sober spaces and low barrier recovery mentoring to individuals that identify as LGBTQIA2s+. True Colors is honored to be working as a program of 4D and are grateful for the fiscal and administrative support they provide.

The Vision.

True Colors envisions a future where LGBTQIA2S+ individuals with substance use issues have access to affirming recovery support services and communities that ensure they can find and sustain their recovery while staying their true selves.

Our Mission.

To provide recovery support services to LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, 18 and older, that affirms identity and allows people to stay true to their-self.

Our Values.

Safety

As individuals who identify as LGBTQIA2S+, we are aware of the high exposure to trauma and abuse our community has faced. We aim to create welcoming and safe environments while providing trauma-informed services that promote healing and a better quality of life.

Inclusion

Every person regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity has a right to equal access of recovery services. We aim to provide accessible recovery focused services to all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, identity, or financial standing.

Diversity

We believe that recovery is specific to the individual. We recognize that everyone has unique needs and personal goals. We value the diversity of our community and will support individuals in creating a tailored recovery pathway.

Unity

Our community is most able to recover when we are fully unified in our support for each other, regardless of our differences. True Colors is committed to holding our community to the highest standards in regards to empathy, compassion, and empowerment. We each recover best when we build each other up.

Service

We are grateful for the opportunity to provide services to a community that we belong to. We will come from a place of service and remember to listen to the voices of the LGBTQIA2S+ community when making decisions that are impactful.

Collaboration

We value and honor the work that our predecessors have done. We will work with other organizations to ensure that our community has equitable access to a variety of services and advocate when service structures are lacking.
